The Second chance INITIATIVE

Goodwill Housing Strategies provides employment pathways for people with barriers to employment. The second chance initiative realizes that we all make mistakes and by providing training and employment for post-incarcerated individuals. The resultant self-sufficiency will have a positive impact by a decrease in returning to crime as the only source of income.

Why We Do It

A decent job is a powerful means to lift people out of poverty. Research shows that employees of social enterprises make significant gains toward economic self-sufficiency and life stability in the areas of housing and income while decreasing their reliance on government benefits.

“The ability to work affords each person to contribute to the continual advance of science and technology and, above all, a sense of pride and usefulness.”
